Found: Another Civil War Veteran

Albert Downer Gleason, born in New York he was the son of Hiram & Caroline (Farnham) Gleason and brother of Isbon & Henry Gleason both of the 96th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted as a private for a term of 1 year, in Co. B, 12th Illinois Infantry on October 1, 1864 in Marengo, Illinois and was mustered in on that same date and place. He was Mustered out by Capt. Guthrie on May 31,1865 at Washington, D.C.

At the time of his enlistment he was a carpenter living in Libertyville, Lake Co., Illinois. He was 30 years old, 5’ 7” tall, and had a fair complexion with black hair and eyes
