I've just finished reading Roy Morris' The Better Angel: Walt Whitman in the Civil War. And I just need to say, that if there is not a statue of Mr. Whitman in Washington, D.C. (I just did a google search and was unable to find one) then we as a nation should be ashamed of ourselves. As few people in history deserve to be memorialized more than he.
